  I have a lot of old adapters for various gadgets I have owned over the years. The makers of the gadgets had to try to stick to certain standards, like a three pin plug in the UK and the connectors that plug into the devices, but developed adapters to overcome these compromises. We are due another step forward in battery technology, partly driven by the money being ploughed into electric car research. Technology and standards must be allowed to evolve.
