For cat owners: Which cat litter worst best?

I am just wondering which cat litter people use. I have been using Special Kitty clumping and it is reasonably priced and works well. I always use baking soda inbetween box changes. Which brand works best for you?

I use a natural litter made from corn - World's Best Cat Litter. I used to use clay litters, both clumping and not clumping, but it became too expensive to take to the landfill. I compost the natural litter and can use the compost around my flowers and trees after it all breaks down. It's more expensive to buy, but no cost to dispose of.

Tidy Cats is my top followed by Fresh Step with Cat's Pride in the rear( I still use it 'cause it's cheap;-( My kitty loves a clean box!! ;-)

I was actually just put on the fact that for under 10 bucks you can get a 50 pound bag of the stuff mechanics use for soaking up spilled oil. and then sprinkle some of that fresh step or something else on top for the cats. Much more cost effective - works great.

I use Kroger's grocery store brand. I bought it once out of desperation. I usually used brand name litters. But the Kroger's store brand worked so well, I never went back to the brand name stuff. I only have one cat though, and I know that can make a difference in what type of litter works best.

I am going to answer this at the risk of everyone who reads it thinking I am insane! I don't use clumping litter, since I read it gets on their paws, and they ingest it when they lick their paws. (This seems to be a much-argued issue, however). I DO use three different kinds/brands of litter in my box at one time, those being Tidy Cats (any variety), Fresh Step, and Mimi silica litter(only found at Walmart so far). I also sprinkle in some CARBON pellets, and ammonia-removing pellets/chips, which are aquarium filter media products. I started using carbon because that's in Fresh Step litter, and noticed and decided to try the ammonia-removers when I ordered the carbon.

I buy the cheapest, biggest bag I can find. It all works fine.

I use Fresh Step Clumping & find that not only is it fairly priced but works well to abosrb all deposits but also keeps the odors to a minimum. Worst are the plain clay litters, they just make cleaning box really difficult & you have to use more because of the waste.

do not like the arm & hammer kitty litter....It is horrible at odor protection and too powdery....Haven't used yours so perhaps I will try it,don't have a particular favorite....
