High heels for a 12 year old girl?

My daughter has just just turned 12 years old. She wanted high heels for her birthday. I really think it is much too young for her, and I said she could have reasonably high when she's thirteen, to maybe wear at a friends party (not out and about) I didnt believe her when she said all her friends had them till I saw them. Two of her friends (aged 12) were teetering around in shoes I know I could just about walk in, and they were meeting up to go to the cinema! She thinks Im old fashioned.............am I ?

It could also be bad for her posture and that is probably not good in a child who is still growing.....

I do not think you are old fashioned, I think it is a parent's decision as she is still under the age of 16/18. Does she wear make up? I think all of these things are subjective to people generally, I would like my daughter (if and when i have one) to not wear make up or high heels for as long as possible.

Keep to your opinion and don't give in. You're not old fashioned. You're doing what you think is right for your child and she should respect your decision (if your 12 year old can do this).

Stick to your guns, she will thank you later for not having feet and posture issues.

I guess you are, and so am I! The kids' dress styles do change. I think we need to stay current, as long as the styles aren't indecent, or unsafe. If a young girl is going to wear high heels, if should be for very limited time periods. The doctors advise even adults not to wear high heels.

I totally agree with you. Kids grow up way too fast today. Keep them kids as long as you can. My kids use to tell me that all the time-everyone else is doing it. That didn't cut it with me.

No ! their feet are still growing and heal are bad for your feet I have worn heal for thirty year and i have disformed feet. At 12 girls are still children let them grow up first before you start making them look older than they should

I've always told my children that telling me their friends have it or do it---doesn't make a difference to me. High heels are bad for young growing bones and can mess up their feet. I don't wear them as an adult. I believe in comfort. I do believe that 12 is too young. I AM old fashioned and proud of it!
