In your opinion what factors contribute to a good movie? why do you think so? support your opinion with reason?

For me a good movie has to be one without a lot o drama. I don't want to get lost. I like one with a lot of dialogue so I can tell what is going on, and without too many sound effects in the background.

storyline/plot: if the story is uninteresting from the beginning then people will not be interested in seeing what happens next. Also need to have something that catches people's attention.
character development: why should we care as an audience what happens to themain character? If we do not get to know something about the characters we will not care who wins and who loses or who dies.
Music sets the mood for the scene and can either make or break a scene, like if they are having a love scene and playing carnival music over it it would really not work very well.

Good Opinion topic... to me what makes a good movie is that it fi it's scary it has to keep my attention really good it cant be corny scary. if it's corny i will lose interest in the movie and probably just leave the movie theather or i will shut the movie off if i have it at home. & also music sets the mood for the scene and can either make or break a scene, like if they are having a love scene and playing carnival music over it it would really not work very well...thanks

For me a movie has to be an original. I dont like How lately most pf the movies comming out are either remakes or could be mistaken for a movie already made because the plot is so simmular.

I'm not really sure there's any kind of list that would guarantee that a good movie would result if it were followed. And it's sort of a "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" type situation--your good movie might not be my good movie. My preference is usually comedy, but not strictly. I don't object to "bad words" if they fit, in any movie--but I hate it when they're obviously out of place and not real--just there for the shock value. The same is true when watching standup--so many overdo it and attempt to make up for a lack of talent with profanity. If I really like a movie, then everything came together for me: the story, the actors, the music if any, the location. But I can't imagine how anyone could decide if the formula was correct until they've seen the finished product. Maybe that's why there are so many bad movies that went straight to video--sounded good on paper, didn't come together on film.

I think a good movie has to have a plain story line. I want to know what's going on and not be jumping all around to different characters stories. I want a ending. I hate those movies where you are waiting to see how it ends and then the story ENDS.Without really telling you How it ends.
