Does wearing black really make you look thinner?

I think it depends on the fit of my clothing not the color for it to look good on me.

siyahın asil bir renk olduğunu düşünüyorum. sık sık tercih ediyorum. Ama giyinirken renk uyumu ve nereye gideceğim de önemli.

I agree the fit of clothing is more to showing of color. Unlike most styles today I perfer not to wear black to either formal tux or perhaps clothing worn to a wake. Black now is so over worn
that it has lost a personal choice of color clothing. I wear men's shirts in Deep Purple, Royal blue, rust color, I wear men's suits in Grey, brown, Blue, Cream, other pattern suits. I grew up in 1950's when pants were navy, tan. Black was mostly worn to wakes

It's supposed to. But other things, like style, are really more important. But if the style is good, black should be slimming.

I would have to agree. Black color tends to hide true shape of your body.

I don't know why it is true, but yes there must be some truth to the belief that black is more thinning.

No, it does not. There are plenty of clothes that are very unflattering, poorly made and in bad cuts and measurements that are black. Also, black blends into a lot of backgrounds, so it will make you look larger if you were standing next to a large wood or metal object that is a dark color. Another thing to keep in mind, stretchy fabrics like lycra clings to your body and shows your imperfections, so wearing a black spandex outfit will not make anyone look thin.
The key to looking slimmer is knowing your best features and how to dress your body and what colors compliment your skin tone. If you have large hips and a small waist, then go with a dress that shows off your waist and that will not bring much attention to your hips. That does give the illusion of a thinner figure. Instead of bright yellow, look at the many shades of yellow. A golden yellow like marigold or pastel shades would look nicer than a bold, loud color.
