Is cutting soda out of your diet a good way to lose weight?
Closed

I've heard that doing something like this is an easy way to drop a few pounds. I've tried it and haven't really been able to tell. Is there anyone else who has had luck with this?

I have heard this but I am not sure I believe it unless it is full calorie soda then eliminating the sugar will help.

Yes, it worked for my father-in-law! He stopped drinking soft drinks and lost about 20 pounds in two months. He also claimed that he felt better when he quit drinking them all together. He started drinking more water during meals and other times which probably helped him a lot too. Good luck to you!

If you are switching from a regular soda to a diet soda, yes, it is an easy way to cut out hundreds of calories over the year. I love coke zero, as it is still diet but tastes like regular soda. My fiance cut back on his soda intake and he did indeed lose a few pounds. It will not automatically make you skinnier (though I wish it did! ha ha ) but it will help you if you are following another diet.

To cut back on soda is one of several things that you can do to loose weight. Drinking more water instead of soda will bring about positive results. It happened to me.

It definitely depends on how much you drank. I have heard that diet drinks are worse for a diet than regular ones because they stimulate appetite and when the calories do not arrive you are hungrier. Many people who visit restaurants automatically just order a soda or get the combo meal because they are thinking they are getting a good deal when in reality restaurants rely on this because serving soda costs them pennies. So go carte blanche and have your diet soda as a treat or snack :D

I cut out soda and lost like 10 pounds in about 3 weeks to a month without really doing anything else to try and lose wight. Just dont replace it with sugaring juices. I stopped drinking soda and only drank water and a glass of tea or milk here and there.

I believe that this is true. I don't think you should drink diet soda because that is no safer to drink than the regular ones. In the summer, I drink less soda, unless I'm eating food. I'm sure if you cut back drinking soda overall, the weight willd decrease as well. Water fills you up better, faster and its a healthier substitute. It also makes your skin better, clears your pours, is refreshing to drink when its hot, replenishes you when you feel dehydrated and probably cuts your appetite.

Drink water everytime you want a soda. I did this for 60 days, and lost 34 pounds. I also drink about 8 cans of regular soda a day. So if ya ain't drinking much soda yer weight ain't gonna drop quickly.

You have to cut out all soft drink, especially diet ones. All the health advice I've heard over the last year states that diet soft drinks are just as bad as regular. Good luck.
