Job descriptions

I was looking for a job last year and there was an ad for a job at a pet store, it was Pets At Home. They were looking for a shop assistant. I would have loved working there, yet I didn't apply due to the job description. It read 'must be able to handle spiders'. Nope. No. Not going to happen. Have you ever seen a job description that made you refrain from applying for the job?

The only one that put me off said " must be prepared to work " Lol ! I don't have a problem with spiders , nor any other domestic creature to be honest . Reply

I like spiders and I've actually always wanted a pet tarantula! I was applying for work placements this year ( a year in industry as part of my degree) and I didn't bother with any roles that were unpaid as in my opinion, that's basically slave labour. Other things that put me off applying for a role are having to travel around a lot for the job or the location being too remote. Reply

I've almost given up on applying for work. I always get to a certain point, where I'm asked for my most recent employment, which is ages ago not to mention my education. I went to school in Norway and it's a completely different system. I've got an appointment with the National careers service soon so hopefully they can help me. Reply

Oh the very thought of spiders!
No, I have not had many jobs and until retirement they were all nursing. Predominantly children but not exclusively. Also a mix of generic and specialist, hospital and community jobs.
Then I retired and started my jam business! Reply

Not that I can think of; but then it's a long-time since I was job-hunting; as for the spiders, at Uni we had 2 "gangs" the Spiders & the Flies, and we spiders had spider rings, I used to hate spiders but that stopped it, it's the sudden appearance that gets most people and a few weeks with one on your hand appearing whenever does help :D :D Reply

it might be things like tarantulas which arent as bad as common house spiders hilde, i think i could manage them, you should go for it anyway, they just put that in to cover all eventualities x Reply
