Loch an Duin, Barra.

This is where Neil spent the day fishing today. He caught just three small trout - not big enough to bring home.
Bonnie and I had planned to walk round the Loch, but it was too boggy for me. Neil had borrowed his big brother’s welly boots. I have to manage with my adapted shoes, but quickly realised it wasn’t sensible.
So instead, Bonnie and I went for a long walk along the road, ending up at yet another beach for her to play on. It was rocky down to the shore, with a conveniently placed seat to enjoy the view. I made the most of it. Bonnie brought me seaweed ‘sticks’ to throw for her and she ran up and down and into the water. She was bowled over by waves at times and had a whale of a time.
Our walking was a six mile round trip, with Neil meeting us before we reached back to the Loch.
A really lovely day, finishing with an Indian dinner of paneer korma in the fabulous Kisimul Cafe.

Looks beautiful. Aren’t there a lot of midges about though? I could take my dog but don’t want a lot of insect bites. Reply

Exactly 13 years ago this week, I wild camped on Barra on a road tour of the Outer Hebrides. We had a cool-box of Waitrose food for our camping dinner! I remember seeing the Kisimul Cafe in Castlebay. Love Indian vegetarian food… Reply
