What a sensible idea , well done to my council , again !
Closed

This is what I call a reasonable commitment to both the protection and preservation of the natural world , and local heritage , excellent !
Developers wanting to build within 4.9 miles (8km) of Cannock Chase have to pay £159 per property, but that is set to rise to £290 from April.
Furthermore , the "area of influence" - the zone within which developers are required to pay the sum - will also be extended to 9.3 miles (15km). This will help improve access and infrastructure, such as car parks, paths and signs. They want to show "the best of Cannock Chase" . This includes a designated Mountain biking area , which will be used for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, being hosted in Birmingham. What do you think of this?

Fantastic news Steve! Do you find that this is a fair compromise to meet the needs of housing but also those of preserving nature? :)

A good compromise, to fulfill the needs of the natural environment as well as the urgent housing crisis :)

I like the theory. I don’t think it sounds like a big enough fee. I would have preferred to see it on a percentage scale so that they pay more for bigger houses and less for the small affordable housing.
I do hope the monies collected are ringfenced and used appropriately.

Oh dear, Steve ~ I'll have to revise my Planning Application !
I do hope the Chase is retained for social use rather than building all over it ??
It looks ideal dog walking territory !!!

This seems to be a good idea and it will also help the economy in your area.

If it makes the chase safer I'm in favour.

Seems like a good idea Steve but the developers will simply pass the cost onto the purchasers of the new homes.

I suppose when their compulsory purchase order goes thru for the new parking access road that cuts across your bungalow, then you're just gonna _have_to_ venture outside ;)).

I doubt it is unique to that council…
