Albatrosses getting divorced!

Albatrosses are large oceanic birds that are monogamous and usually mate for life. In the past, "divorces" happened rarely, when breeding was unsuccessful, and the female albatross left her mate for a new male bird. But recently, scientists have noticed an increase in their divorce rate that seems related to rising sea temperatures. Theories about why climate change is causing an increase in divorces are that this makes their food supply scarce, which then causes their breeding to be unsuccessful, or perhaps the females blame the stress related to the decreased food supply on the male birds. This is another way in which a seemingly small change, such as the sea temp changing a few degrees, can have a big impact, such as a reduction in successful breeding and a drop in the population of albatrosses.
