When I went out shopping earlier, I decided to fill up the car's fuel tank, it was nearly to the red line.

For the first time I had to pay over £50 for the privilege, it came to £50.12p. Fuel has been going up at a rate of about 1p a litre since the fuel panic, it has now reaches £1.48.9p a litre here. I am beginning to think that they are now trying to force cars off the road by making fuel so expensive, people will no longer be able to afford it. You can add all the complaints about the new E10 fuel in, most people are now avoiding it, you get significantly less miles per gallon, and there is less power from the engine as well. Having noted the steadily increasing fuel prices, I had a look at alternatives, and I have a feeling battery electric is not the answer due to the lack of any recharging infrastructure. I was thinking of replacing my car in March 2023, but I will now hang on to see what happens. By the middle of next year, we should know how the future hydrogen powered cars looks. Hydrogen when bunt only produces water, so is not polluting to the atmosphere.

Is the cost of motor fuel steadily going up near you, and how much is a litre of E10 ?

Prices are sky high compared to a year ago; We all use diesel so E5 or E10 doesn't affect us ! Reply

Yep even down here it's 1.49 a Ltr and Diesel is 1.51. When I fill my coach full from almost empty it costs the company well over £600 that will last me about 4 days if I am lucky and drive with care and do not accelerate hard ! Reply

My tank holds 66L and I paid £100 to fill up last week. Luckily the company pay me a good allowance and mileage so don't really notice.
That'll all change when I retire in a few years time.

E10 is £1.44.7 at the cheapest station near York Chris. The price of crude oil has fallen by $10 a barrel since the news on omicron but this has yet to be seen at the pumps. I warned a couple of months ago that the lower CO2 emissions from E10 is cancelled out and then some by the need to use more of the stuff to get from A to B but no one seemed to cotton to that fact. I have not filled up,since the E10 petrol appeared,I normally use Super Unleaded so which one replaced this,as I get nearly 60 mpg on long hauls and 48/50 in town the cost is not that important. Reply
