Almost all of my favorite holiday recipes were passed down to me from my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Not only have I come from a family of extraordinary bakers, these recipes remind me of Christmases past that I enjoyed with these loved ones who are no longer here.

One of these recipes is for Sour Cream Pound Cake. I'm not much of a pound cake fan with the exception of this one. It is the most moist and tasty of any pound cake I've ever tasted. My mother also had a cardinal rule that only quality ingredients should be used when baking; no margarine or store brand products!

Sour Cream Pound Cake

2 sticks butter
3 c. sugar
6 eggs, separated
¼ tsp. soda
1 c. sour cream
3 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. almond extract
1 tsp. vanilla extract

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks, one at a time; beat well after each addition. Stir soda into sour cream. Add flour and sour cream alternately to the egg yolk mixture and blend well after each addition. Add flavorings and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour in a greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 300 degrees for one hour and 30 minutes.

Looks And Sounds Great! I Was The One Who Received The Baking GENES! I Have Been The Keeper Of ALL Family Recipes! The Chief Baker For So Very Many Years! I Wouldn't Want It Any Other Way!

I come from a family of great bakers but I think this talent passed me by. This looks great - I can almost taste it!

Very nice Peggy! Having a moist pound cake sounds much better than the typical overly dry pound cake.

Yum! Thanks for sharing. My Mom, especially, was a wonderful baker and I really miss her pies.

My family are all good bakers too. I love a good pound cake, but you just can't skimp on using lots of the indicated fat if you want it to be moist!
