Is this the end of phone and text scams ?

Unfortunately , I think not . Ofcom has asked phone companies to block overseas numbers which purport to be from the UK .
The problem is , they use v.o.i.p.systems , while much of the UK still relies on old copper-based networks dating back to the 1970s.
In the last 3 months , there have been an astonishing 45 MILLION scam attempts in the UK, with many gullible people losing money .
Now , texts . To me , this is simple . If I get a text regarding a delivery , be it parcel or grocery , I go straight to the website . My bank doesn't text me , and emails always include my name, rather than dear sir .What do you think folks ?

BT are moving to Digital Voice rather than cable, I wonder if that will have any effect. I am on Digital Voice now and haven't had any scam calls on it yet (though I have onky had it since the end of September). Reply

Do you think there are any additional measures that could be taken to put an end to these types of scams for good? Reply

i get the same as you ,mainly delevirys that have gone astray ,or cant be delivered ,so i delete and barr the number ,hubby gets them too ,but hubby got one last week ,saying that someone had added their name to his bank account ,and to click this text etc ,he was a little bit in a panic ,but i told him it was a scam and not to click on the link and i phoned the bank for him just to put his mind at rest .I do wish they would stop them ,but i dont think they ever will Reply

It would be great if it works, thankfully not many companies have ever had our mobile numbers, and I have a call blocker phone so we don't even hear the calls ring :D Reply

We seem to have had two, within half an hour of each other, early this morning. Each call left no phone number so they could not be traced. They really annoy us and get on our nerves because our landline is for use by friends, family, hospitals and doctors. Reply
