What were you pick on, teased about or bullied for when you were growing up?

I don't think many of us would have made it through childhood and/or adolescence without being picked on, teased about or bullied for something, especially during our school years.

What were you pick on, teased about or bullied for when you were growing up?

As a teenager I carried a bit of extra weight. I was not obese by any means but had a good sized butt and big boobs. Some of the other girls in school made my life a living hell. To this day I have a psychological eating disorder that I live with because of that teasing and taunting. I am of a perfect weight for height now but still struggle with seeing myself at the correct size. I can never go straight to a fitting room to try something on without taking a few different sizes with me as I don't see myself realistically. I got mine back in a smug, self satisfied way at a school reunion a few years back though. I walked straight up to the bullies, one at a time, stood beside them, looked them up and down and laughed. They all knew and apologised one by one. I know smug is not a good emotion, but it sure felt good!! Reply

A whole group of girls from the lower grade called me Dolly aka Dolly Parton. Their male counterparts would walk around the school exclaiming “Give me head” to their group as they walked passed in the school corridor. It was such a prestigious environment. Reply

Bullied at school for no particular reason people were mean to me but I didn't care. I stood up for myself. Kids and teenagers can be mean and I blame the parents for not raising them right. Reply

During some of my earlier school years I was bullied for I am not sure what reason by another student they would bully me at school, then before and after school when others were around and when they weren’t too it became so bad that I wouldn’t walk home and didn’t want to or go some days. I think it’s so important for kids to know there is always a place to go and someone to talk too because it can deeply affect the them. Kindness, love and respect are qualities that we can teach the generations to come and what wonderful things we have to look forward too. Reply

For me, despite going to school here is Australia, in high school I was relentlessly bullied for being an Australian. "An Aussie. A skip. An occa. A yobbo. A bogan..." and every other derogatory term you can think of for an Australian.
The teacher would hear it all, and I would ask them for help, but they all told me there was nothing they could do because the kids doing the bullying weren't Australian and I was, so therefore it wasn't racism, if anything, it was "anti-racism." That still bugs me today when I think back to it.
Oh well, I was proud then and am still proud today to be an Australian!
