Trash Bag Misuse? Who Knew!

I saw this video on the Yahoo home page tonight. Did you?

I would have never put this much thought into this. Don't shake trash bags open. Simply put the opening over the can and push the bag down inside. Voila!

Did you know this? Will you change the way you put your trash bag into your trash can?

I saw this video on Yahoo as well but I'll continue to be stubborn I guess and continue to shake the bag a couple of times before putting the bag in :-) Reply

I didn't know about this, never noticed the seams, I will probably just continue shaking. Reply

Thanks for sharing--I did know about this, but it doesn't really work for me for my larger kitchen trash bins -- yes, there are 2 of them. One is for regular trash and the other for recycles. I do, however, do this with smaller bags that I put into the little trash containers in the bathroom, etc. Reply

I didn't know this but I haven't used a real trash bag in several years. I use the plastic shopping bags you get at the store instead. We don't generate much trash and a couple of bags are usually enough for a week. I'm saving the extras because one day, they will be outlawed. Reply

Agree that it would depend on trash bag used. We've "invested" in all sorts of clamps, etc. to keep the stupid bags IN the trash can...and they work to varying degrees of success. Nothing ruins your day faster than to plop garbage into a trash can--and there goes the trash bag! Reply

No, I hadn't seen this. I think it depends on what type of trash bag you use. I use small ones and they are not designed to be turned inside out.
Another handy hint for trash cans is to put a clean, folded trash bag at the bottom of the can, then install your bag to line the can (installing it the old way or the way this video recommends). When you pull the full trash bag out, you have a new bag ready to install. The janitorial staff where I used to work did this.
