My father who is fond of fruit-bearing trees planted Durian Trees. Since he's a really hard working man, the trees grew and bloomed. Durian is a seasonal fruit, it is not available the whole year round. We are blessed with a bounty harvest every season so we set aside some for selling and the rest for consumption.

Durians do have a pungent smell that's why I understand people who shake their head in objection when they're ask to have a taste. But for me, I think it tastes great. It's sweet and creamy. It has a soft texture too. The biggest issue with this fruit is the right way of opening it. It has really sharp thorns and a hard shell. But my father adviced me to just follow the lines on it's shell and I would be able to get it right.

Overall, I would recommend those who haven't tasted this fruit to have a bite at least. Maybe you don't like it because you're not used to its sight. Or because you are influenced by people who gave a negative impression towards this fruit.
