Did you ever get food delivered that you didn't order?

A weird thing happened to me Sunday night. Around 9 pm, I heard some noise outside, heard someone stomping up my front steps, then they rang the doorbell numerous times. I won't answer the door at night, so I waited a few minutes and looked outside. On my doorstep was a bag with several containers of Japanese food, including two big containers of sushi! There was no tag or slip of paper with the name or address of who ordered it. There was a menu from the restaurant, though, so I called them and told them they had delivered food to me that I didn't order. I had to explain several times before they understood. I told them if they could give me the correct address, I would take the food there, but they said they couldn't do that. This must have been $20-$30 worth of food! Unfortunately, I don't like sushi, so I was going to throw it away, but I put it in the refrigerator for the time being. The next day, I realized maybe my neighbor would like it, so I gave it to him. I felt sorry for whoever ordered the food in the first place!

Wow, that's a bummer, they probably had to send some more food to the right person and they probably had to give it to them free for being so late.

The delivery person must have been sacked from his-her job for bringing $20-$30 worth of food to the wrong place. My parents once had this sort of thing happen to them at Christmas time shortly after they moved into their house. A Harry & David's gift basket addressed to the last home owner showed up on their doorstep brought by UPS. The basket was an impersonal gift sent to the man who owned the house before them because he was a builder who flipped old or built new houses'. A company that did business with him had sent those baskets' to all the people they did business with. My mother contacted the man who still lived nearby and let him know, but since dozens of such businesses' sent him similar baskets' full of crappy, processed foods, jams and fruit he did not really want it and said my mother and father could keep it. They did and we had a basket of food that Christmas.
