Young enterprise

People often complain about youngsters but I would like to put the other side of the coin. A local lad in our village (I think he is only about 13 or 14) wanted to earn himself some money over the summer so he posted in the Facebook pages of our village, the nearby town, the local business pages, offering gardening services. He has been this morning and cut my front hedge for me and made a really good job of it, well worth the £15 he charged. All kudos to him for having the gumption to do something like this rather than slouching around town with his mates all summer.
Have you got any enterprising youngsters in your area?

I guess weeding and digging is ok, washing downstairs windows , cars and running errands but i thought anyone using power tools or going up ladders on your property needed insurance? Our home insurance has 3rd party liability but not sure if they would pay out for someone underage doing such jobs ? If a lad called and wanted to wash the car with a bucket or two and a sponge i might say yes. Reply

We have a couple that go round washing cars at the weekend Minnie. They do a good job, and they charge £5 for doing it. Reply

I came across a group of enterprising youngsters when as a volunteer I spent some evenings at the local secondary school and a dragons apprentice challenge they had been set! Their energy, enthusiasm, commitment and hard work to meet their challenge was lovely to see! Reply

We have 2 teenage lads who are very enterprising !
However, it is usually after dark and they then need to make a rapid next-day sale at any price to get rid of the evidence !!
Well done to your young lad; send him over here !!!
