What do you do when you can't fall asleep?

I gotta say there's a lot of things going on in my mind that makes me think, and when I think my mind is so active that even though its midnight I cannot fall asleep. So most of the time I resort to..

● Watching shows or clips.
I find this effective especially those shows on low volume and long durations, avoid comedy ones as they have the effect of making you more awake. Its also important to set a tv timer where at a specific time the tv would switch off on its on as well as the display settings on the phone when inactive for long so it will switch off on its own.
● Listening to relaxing songs.
I always find my mom asleep with the radio on and sometimes I would also catch myself falling asleep to songs especially her radio station was always on AM playing oldies most of the time which I find soothing.
● Read books in dim light.
This works for me as sometimes when I was reading my textbooks in dim light it makes me feel sleepy for some reason, I think the dim light makes me sleepy as phones tends to be lot brighter than that.
● Work out.
In desperate times if all else fails there's no choice but to exhaust our body. A simple planking, crunches and other exercise can certainly makes us feel tired therefore falling asleep.

Also, I noticed that the more my thoughts were stress triggering the more I get anxious therefore making me more awake and I cannot settle down. Sometimes too, I would fall asleep right away whenever I skip siesta or mid day nap.

I don’t use my phone kasi the more na mabubuhay ang diwa ko just like now I should be sleeping and Im on my phone haha. I listen to zen/spa/nature sounds tapos with matching mga may naaamoy kang essential oils on the side nakakatulong naman most of the time or yun nga try not to take afternoon naps para tulog ka agad :) Reply
