Happy Valentine's Day!
Closed

Roses are red, violets are blue, Toluna has got some love for you too! Everyone talks about love and how they feel goosebumps and butterflies in their stomach when they find their better-half.

However, the definition of love certainly depends on who you ask. For example, according to the American Heritage College Dictionary, love is "a deep, tender feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship or a sense of oneness"; whereas science defines love as a biochemical chain of events.

According to several studies, love can be distilled into lust, attraction, and attachment. Lust, the desire for sexual gratification, is driven by estrogen and testosterone in both men and women. Attraction concerns the brain pathways that determine the “reward” behavior” (fight or flight), impelled by adrenaline, dopamine, and serotonin. Lastly, hormones and brain chemicals such as oxytocin and vasopressin are responsible for the attachment, needed to create long-term bonding, observed in romantic relationships, friendships, and other intimacies.

The answer to “what is love” will depend on the person asked. Besides the scientific perspective, there is also an anthropological, cultural and psychological definition.

Also, if you ask children what love is, you might get way different answers than if you asked adults. We did an online search and found out that professionals have posed the very same question to a group of children aged between 4 and 8 years-old. Here's our compilation of the best answers to what love means to children.

“Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn’t think it’s gross.” Mark, age 6

“I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.” Lauren, age 4

“Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.” Elaine, age 5

“Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss” Emily, age 8

“Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.” Chrissy, age 6

“Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.” Chris, age 7

Have you ever thought about what love means to you?
How would you define love?
Do you agree with children’s perspective of love?
Do adults define love differently than children?
Have you asked your children how do they define love?

Be our forever Valentine! Answer all the above questions and you could win some bonus points!

We wish you a happy Valentine’s day!

Question-Have you ever thought about what love means to you?
Answer-Yes. Love means knowing that no matter what, you have someone to count on. It's unconditional and makes you feel good on the inside. You can trust the person you love and are comfortable around them. It's like your heart tells you that it is good for you.
Question-How would you define love?
Answer- No definition as such. It is an act of caring and giving to someone else…having someone’s best interest and well-being as a priority in your life
Question-Do you agree with children’s perspective of love?
Answer- I agree.
Question-Have you asked your children how do they define love?
Answer-Yes, not mine. When I asked neighborhood kids, I got very cute answers.
Love is the warm feeling when Mommy hugs me.
Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.
Enjoy the season of love !

Have you ever thought about what love means to you?
Love means being mentally, emotionally connected to your loved one 24X7, 365 days... nothing at all...no distraction or attraction makes u forget that person... it is the longing to be together always
How would you define love?
Love is so deep & unique that I am sure it can never be defined in words completely. It is an intense feeling,a longing , a happiness, a pain, sweet sour bitter salty all at the same time...and much more than words can ever explain
Do you agree with children’s perspective of love?
Children's perspective though pure & innocent is incomplete..because there are so many types of love ranging from love for our parents, our family, our home, our Nation to love for all society & Humanity at large
Do adults define love differently than children?
Yes... Adults will define love differently... because they have more exposure & experiences, more words to explain
Have you asked your children how do they define love?
Children have seen very little of life hence their explanations are very small and limited , though pure and innocent
