Do you get second opinions before opting for surgeries?

It is best to get second, and even third opinions, when it comes to surgeries needed. Mistakes are often made, and by human error. This lady in this article was diagnosed with breast cancer, and underwent unnecessary chemo, and double mastectomy at age 25 after the birth of her son. Later, she was told it was a mistake, a human error, because a biopsy sample had been incorrectly recorded. The hospital said all cancer diagnoses are now checked by a second pathologist before a determination is made. I would still get a second and a third opinion from different doctors to be sure. Better to be safe than sorry. This article was from: https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/woman-25-learns-she-misdiagnosed-134639471.html

I have had only two surgeries. One was an emergency c-section, no need for second opinion, and the other was a gallbladder removal. By the time I saw the ultrasound tech, my doctor, and the surgeon, I figured the three knew what they were talking about. Reply
