Part time work to start next week - Could you change to a Carer?
Closed

I want to give something back at the same time as getting back to some small earnings - I miss the small amounts I got from being an Avon rep.
Caring as a job is scary - I will be a Helping Hand. Could you?

Part time work, part time pleasure, part time family

Its not so scary. my sons gf did mobile care for elderly in her gap year from uni. she was terrified but grew to love it: despite the low pay & rushing between clients to meet targets (15 mins often)

For 9 years, I was a pastoral volunteer visitor to one of our many residential homes. Most of the time, I loved it, and had my favourite residents, I have to say, but being a visitor is VERY different from being a carer. I greatly admire those who are carers.

It's nice that someone wants to give 'something back' as well, good for you.I couldn't/wouldn't have done it myself though and I don't need to work now.

I spent more than ten years caring for my disabled husband, and I was only paid the pittance the government offers as compensation. It's hard work, especially when it's 24/7. I've done it, I don't fancy doing it again just yet.

I could but nobody would hire me. I'd have to go get a degree first which will take some time and money. The first I have, the second I do not.
