W.O.C. - The Force
Closed

Hello Influencers!

On this day in 1977, Memorial Day weekend opens with an intergalactic bang as the first of George Lucas’ blockbuster Star Wars movies hits American theaters.

The incredible success of Star Wars–it received seven Oscars, and earned $461 million in U.S. ticket sales and a gross of close to $800 million worldwide–began with an extensive, coordinated marketing push by Lucas and his studio, 20th Century Fox, months before the movie’s release date. “It wasn’t like a movie opening,” actress Carrie Fisher, who played rebel leader Princess Leia, later told Time magazine. “It was like an earthquake.” Beginning with–in Fisher’s words–“a new order of geeks, enthusiastic young people with sleeping bags,” the anticipation of a revolutionary movie-watching experience spread like wildfire, causing long lines in front of movie theaters across the country and around the world.

So please tell us your experience of the Force! Do you enjoy this franchise? Why? Why not? Tell us about your favorites and least favorites- we're to know dieing to!

Star Wars is suitable for all ages. We all like imaginative movies on space life which we all believe exists.

We enjoyed the original trilogy. But unfortunately as the franchise has progressed, the plot has become more predictable and in some cases laughable. We may see the standalone of Solo but other recent movies we have had no desire to see.

I have one tattoo. It’s R2D2. Star Wars came out when I was five years old. It helped not only form my values and understanding of good and evil and how evil can start out as good and vice versa but it also helped form my spiritual roots. R2-D2 is my favorite because he always saved the day. No matter what he always saves the day. Or use the force and Jedi mind tricks every single day. It did not work on the officer pulled me over for speeding though. He did not like it when I said “You do not need to see my license and registration “

Like most of the people here who have answered this question, I was a fan of the first three movies. Now, at my age,(51)I think that they should stop with all of the star wars "stuff" and try using their imaginations for some new stuff. I think that with all of the cartoons, lego toys, and more movies, it is Totally played out. Everybody likes a "bad boy" and Solo was my favorite character. Just when you thought he was going to do something great, he messed it all up.

Star Wars is the best. I have seen all of the movies. Yes, I enjoy watching them. It is just something I grew up with. I like all of the characters for different reasons. Not really any I dislike.
My experience of the force:
There was an unfortunate incident at the grocery store. Two ladies were chatting in an aisle. I had asked nicely a couple of times to please allow me to pass. The one, she treated me like Aunt Bea did Barney, she waved her hand at me and told me it was impolite to interrupt. SO, I stared at her hard, lifted my hands in the air and telepathically moved the two of them to the side and passed thru like a boss. LOL. And y'all thought Star Wars was just a movie. :D
