W.O.C. - The Force
Closed

Hello Influencers!

On this day in 1977, Memorial Day weekend opens with an intergalactic bang as the first of George Lucas’ blockbuster Star Wars movies hits American theaters.

The incredible success of Star Wars–it received seven Oscars, and earned $461 million in U.S. ticket sales and a gross of close to $800 million worldwide–began with an extensive, coordinated marketing push by Lucas and his studio, 20th Century Fox, months before the movie’s release date. “It wasn’t like a movie opening,” actress Carrie Fisher, who played rebel leader Princess Leia, later told Time magazine. “It was like an earthquake.” Beginning with–in Fisher’s words–“a new order of geeks, enthusiastic young people with sleeping bags,” the anticipation of a revolutionary movie-watching experience spread like wildfire, causing long lines in front of movie theaters across the country and around the world.

So please tell us your experience of the Force! Do you enjoy this franchise? Why? Why not? Tell us about your favorites and least favorites- we're to know dieing to!

I was a fan of the earliest trilogy movies, but do not care for anything "Episode 1" and beyond.

Star Wars has a great story line, and more than anything it reminds me of being a young girl with my brother showing me this world he thought was amazing and he wanted me to be a part of.

I've never really saw the appeal in Star Wars. It's always been overrated to me, especially the recent films which seem to be worse. The original movies and maybe in the 2000's, they had some good ones.

I have never been a huge Star Wars fan. I have tried time and time again to watch it and enjoy it, but I am just not into it. I haven't tried in years, so maybe I should give them one more go.

I remember watching the first Star Wars movie at the theater and back then I'd never seen anything like that before. The special effects were fantastic, the story, characters and actors were great and it was something special! Every character had their own personality and the actors made their parts very believable. I remember after the movie was released there were a ton of new Star Wars arcade games, pinball machines, action figures, etc., and I played all the arcade games. I'd love to see the movie again in a theater.
