I have spent a long time studying a second language overseas, and a country-specific knowledge is needed to understand the culture. The grammar structure and mannerisms of a country reveal so much!

The best way to understand cultures is by going to travel and experience new things , like food or just their way of living. Some people eat on their bare floor , some in a kitchen , others outside. How they also dress can be based off their culture. I think it's imperative that we try to understand people overall , and starting with their cultural norms is a start. Then you will understand , why they do the things they do .

Learning about the melting pot of cultures in our own America makes me proud to say I live with such a variety of people. I’m teaching my children to educate themselves on others’ cultures and how they are similar and different from our own

I love to visit new places and go off the beaten path. Travel the back roads and see what you can find that is out of the ordinary. Eat at a place that isn’t the prettiest but has a full parking lot.. if the locals like it, it must be good. The most fulfilling part is that when the people learn you are not from there and have picked their place to enjoy you get great conversation and may learn about new local treasures

I would love to go to small town and rent a home.I'd want to walk the old streets, buy & talk to the locals.,Go where they go. Just spend time with them.

I love to rent an actual apartment or flat in a new country instead of staying at a hotel. This can be done easily not through things like Airbnb. That way I can grocery shop at local grocers and learn how people in that culture live. I love researching beforehand and finding as many local eateries, parks, and cultural appreciation attractions are available for me to be as fully immersed as I can be.
