What do you think about "reality stars" today?
Closed

It seems anyone can become famous for literally saying anything nowadays.  Do you prefer watching the reality drama of people such as "cash me outside" girl or do you miss the days of actors and musicians actually becoming famous for their talent? Why?

People are so fake, narcissistic and are only looking for attention

I can't believe we've become a society so obsessed with watching what other people say and do. No matter how stupid! People are actually being rewarded and at times becoming famous for their stupid behavior and/or do, or the stupid things they say and do. Take "cash me outside" girl. This girl does not attend school regularly (evidenced by her grammar) because she does not care about being educated or making anything of her life. She was taken on a national television by her mother in an exasperated attempt to get her help. She was skipping school, failing in her classes, being sexually mischievous, stealing from businesses and her family, using (and abusing) drugs and alcohol, and was both verbally and physically abusive with family members and others. She is a non-functioning member of society headed for trouble. Her "cash me outside" phrase was actually a call-out to Dr. Phil personally on his show suggesting a physical fight with him. That, was unbelievable! She is not even educated enough to adequately enunciate "catch you outside " when she is calling out someone to a physical fight. That's a real class act there. Calling Dr. Phil out on national television? I couldn't help but laugh right along with him when she made the comment to "cash you outside".
Instead of this girl getting the help she really needs, along comes some idiot producer who decides to capitalize on her moral stupidity and lack of proper use of the English language and he offers her a tv/music opportunity. What on earth has happened to our entertainment expectations? Movie legends and musical sensations who are gone today would literally role over in their graves. The countless hours of preparation and rehearsal to be the best and get their performances "just right". What about their struggles to get into the industry? You having musicians and actors today who have struggled to "make it" and get where they are. Then along comes some idiot with the idea to take a young girl, who should be being educated, receiving family, psychiatric, drug abuse, and anger management counseling and give her public recognition instead by way of the media, movie and music industry. We have truly become a society that idolizes the reality of others shortcomings, mistakes and failures and have slowly ceased to demand the level of excellence previously expected of those in the film and music industry. It is a sad day indeed.

I don't believe in "airing your dirty laundry" in public.

Whatever floats their boats, but I do not have the need to get approval of billions for my self worth or popularity to prove people I have the person to hang out with. My ego is in check, and I hope theirs will one day be too.

I miss the days when actors were known for their talent. I have no interest in watching people who publicly air what should be kept private and most likely make up most of what they're saying and/or doing outrageous things just for attention.

Yeah, I think all reality shows are jokes. And the stars, if you could call them that, are the sad folk who dreamed of show business, but always lacked the talent
