Sweden is known for its commitment to keeping citizens happy and recently did an experiment testing out the 6 hour work day. Do you think the US should try something like this? Why?

This experiment definitely made the people happier and less stressed, but cost more for the company due to employing more people to pick up the slack.

They stated hiring new people put a $738,000-sized dent in the payroll — an increase of about 22% but also lowered unemployment costs during that time.

Do you think the US should do something like this to help raise the unemployment rate and make workers less stressed? Or is the cost of hiring new workers too much to make this an option?

I think it would be great for kids who don't get to spend much time with their parents. it sucks that in reality American benefits are outrageous and we'd HAVE to work full time just to get decent medical.

What happens to benefits if these employees are not working 40 hours a week? Are they going to change this so that everyone is salaried and still gets benefits? If not, then it is not a good idea at all.

Yes, I remember in grade school talking about it as France had a six hour work day --- some universities started moving to a thirty five hour work week as I became older. People are too stressed. Our children need attention. Where are we rushing to Mars? Earth seems pretty cozy to me.

I think in our big profit, business mentality, this will not work, but it is a great idea.

The cost of hiring new workers is too costly but some big companies could defiantly afford to do this.

yes, i did a research paper and project at my former company yrs ago on work days, varying schedules, etc. so i think this would be great, in the us we work so much more than other companies, get less holidays and vacation as well.
