Opinion of the Week: If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do? Do you live your life like this?
Closed

How does it work? The Toluna Team and Toluna Team CA accounts will each post a topic on their profile every Tuesday, starting with “Opinion of the Week…” Write a quality opinion on that topic and we will choose 1 random winner for each the US and Canada’s topics, to win 3,000 points.

Ground Rules: Open to US and CA members only. Every Tuesday the TolunaTeam and TolunaTeamCA will each create a topic on their profiles regarding a specific theme, and ask members to provide their opinion. One winner will be selected from each the US and Canada to win 3,000 points. Winners will be chosen at random from all eligible posts. Eligible posts must be in compliance with the Toluna Member Code of Conduct. Opinion of the Week winners will be announced within 1 week from launch of Topic, and bonus points credited to member accounts via direct credit.

Doing thing we don't like is a way of life. We have to work to pay bills and support a family, we have to cook and clean house and pay bills. what we really would like is to live a life of luxury no worries and spend money because we wished we had way more than enough. However for most of us it is a dream, to spend, travel, live is a beautiful house(dream house) I look at it as if we could wish and dream it leaves little else in our life. Accept what we/you have and make the best of it, be grateful.

I have to pay bills & rent to eat and have a life. I don't like it right now, but ya got to do what you got to do, otherwise you'll be homeless & it's getting cold out! It all comes down to a matter of affordability. If I could afford it, I would travel the world, if I could afford it, I would be a snowbird and head to Mexico, for the winter...we all have to do things we don't like, that's just part of life.

I think that many people actually live like this, it is just the way life ends up being for most people. We don't have the abilities (like money) to do the things we would love to do, so we are stuck doing things we wish we wouldn't have to.

I really think that to live life to the fullest extent is to include the happy and not-so-happy moments, things we want to do and don't want to do. After all, having a sort balance of both in your life creates learning experiences for us to move on from and grow from. No one wants to go through any struggle, but it is a necessary thing to go through if we are to grow as people. Sometimes, we seem to go through more adversity in our lives because we have the capacity to turn those experiences into learning experiences, to grow from them, and to learn the lessons we need to learn in order to become a better you.

I believe as children we all start out with a hopefull "enjoy life" perception. Children are so innocent and haven't developed the fears , pains, or insecurities we tend to develop as we get older. Unfortunately, we all encounter heartache, and disappointment , grief and loss as we get older and time passes. Most of us are not born with the innate sense of acceptance or ability to overcome these painful events without some form of "emotional or mental change " to our belief system. It is sometimes so gradual and small we do not even realize, we've changed. What we believed yesterday, we just don't believe today. These changes add up in some lives, creating fear based insecurities that change our perceptions on life. We begin doing all we can to conform to any and all things around us, trying to ensure nothing else difficult happens in our life. We learn over time how to justify this to ourselves . Simple excuses that ease our conscious and inner voice. We eventually get comfortable with living as society deems acceptable. We lose the instincts to enjoy life, see the good, take the risk, expect happines . All those things become uncomfortable and we strive to stay comfortable in all things in life . I am so blessed to have had enough traumatic change in my life, I've had no choice but to overcome or get destroyed by it. Pain motivated me to really look at my attitude and beliefs. Pain also motivated me to change those beliefs. I am who I am today. I like who she is today. I learned, having a life without change or fear from trying something new, is far more difficult to live than one with challenges and trying new things, and always remaining teachable. My motto I live by is this " Expect Joy , look for the great things in life , and you will find them. "

Over the years I have learned that life is a balance. So there are some things we need to do because they are necessary, whether we like them or not. But luckily we can also do many things that we like. America is great that way!

Because it's necessary! A lot of us don't like to work the jobs that we have to, but if we didn't, we'd be poor. Lots of us don't enjoy washing dishes, dusting, vacuuming, picking up clothes and toys, but if we didn't, our houses would be in abject squalor! That's why we do things we don't like to do; because it makes our lives better down the road. As for why we don't do things we like, sometimes it's not possible due to our living situation or financial situation. I do tend to live my life like this, although I long for more freedom to live it more wildly and carefree.

Life is short, we do things we don't like because we need to. We don't do things that we like because we can't. I believe every lives their life like this.

A lot of us were not raised with love and compassion and therefore we think we don't deserve to have joy in our lives. We work at a job we hate for 40 years at minimum wage, get lots of diseases from eating comfort foods, drinking alcohol, smoking, doing drugs, deal with depression, anxiety, PTSD and other disorders and don't allow God to heal us from all the dysfunction so that we can live a better quality of life. We ask God everyday to please remove us from this miserable like and take us to Heaven so that we don't have to commit suicide to escape.
