What do you think of Wrigley's response to Donald Trump’s tweet stating "If you had a bowl of Skittles and I told you just 3 would kill you, would you take a handful? That's our Syrian refugee problem"
Closed

Wrigley, the company that owns Skittles, responded to Donald Trump’s Tweet stating:

"Skittles are candy. Refugees are people. We don't feel it is an appropriate analogy. We will respectfully refrain from further commentary as anything we say could be misinterpreted as marketing."

What are your thoughts?

I had no idea Trump said that, but wow. Good reply from Skittles.

The analogy is somewhat true, and people have used similar comparisons throughout history so what's new? Just the fact that Trump said it doesn't make it true. (And I hate Trump.) A broken clock is still correct twice a day

I've already responded but I just heard the best response yet to this. We use metaphors all the time comparing inanimate objects to humans. Guess we should no longer say "There's a few bad apples in every class or team, etc." Comparing apples to humans? Heaven help us! LOL

Totally out of place to be saying that. He needs more compassion for these refugees.

It is a bit ridiculous. This same analogy was used last year by someone else only the candy chosen was M&Ms. It's a good analogy and had it not been Trump's son who used it no one would have even cared. Wrigley should have just stayed out of it, there was no reason for them to weigh in on it.

We don't know how many terrorists are in the huge numbers that are coming to the USA, so I think he means we need to thoroughly screen 1 person at a time and not just let thousands come in a group without any background checks, etc.
