I would not say I'm proud. I'd say it's a fact. I am American. It's a geography, not an identity.

I could never be proud to be an American if Donald Trump was President.

To be a citizen in one of the only countries who abides as close to the value of true "freedom" in this world, then yes, I don't consider myself proud, but very grateful ❤️

Yes, I love this country and try hard to respect the people in it. That is the lesson of our democracy - respect and civility. Sometimes this is a difficult lesson to carry out, but we must try.

I know that I am late making an entry but I read all the entries and almost wept with sadness at the lack of inspiration and spirit that came from the few words written. So, here is my observation about living in America and my pride. I was blessed to be born in this land of 'all kinds and types of people' from all walks from life. I never, however, have taken this blessing for granted as some seem to these days and it makes me really sad for them. They have missed out on being able to grow up in a nation that allowed me to do and be anything that I could pay for and work toward accomplishing. That meant I wasn't going to be given anything for free, but if I was willing to take the steps, I just might get there. My life has been fulfilling and enjoyable but not without the pain of a life lived well. This country, America, is a beautiful, wonderful land of opportunity. Thanks.
