because there are not enough jobs in the u.s, most of them have requirements that most people just don't have. this is why we have so many unemployed resident living in the states.

Short term objectives of businesses is to make money for investors and now days it is by lowering pay and benefits of line/staff employees because they know they can at this point in time.

Too many people and not enough jobs' and common greed. I have a friend with a part-time job at a Staples store and they refuse to give him full-time because they do not want to give him any health coverage. He is fortunate to have coverage from when he was in the Navy and the VA. He should be able to work longer hours and opt not to accept their health coverage. His boss won't allow it.

It's not at all at an all-time low. That nadir was reached in the 1930's, which make our times seem prosperous by contrast. Still, this doesn't answer your question. Times are tough because the economy is being "managed" through politics, as opposed to running through markets. The more that government tinkers with economic matters, the worse things get, or the chancier they get. Government can foster a boom, but that sort of boom inevitably leads to a bust, for which the government puts in more statist fixes, which make the next bust worse, and so forth. It's an entirely wrong notion that the government knows better than you how to use your own money. Right now, corporations, just like ordinary persons, are uncertain about the future and afraid to go out on an economic limb, lest they end up losing it all. It seems that only a month is needed for the government to change its mind about an economic policy. However can one plan when that is going on?

The United States remains the land of opportunity and the American Dream is still accessable. To those who set priorities, get skills and build an economic life, prosperity is available. To those who make excuses, blame Obama, blame their mama, blame immigrants, blame anything, failure awaits.

Because we don't know how to leave well enough alone. Government is counterproductive to growth unless it involves them & their agenda.
