i dont think you have to go all out, but i think you should know a little bit about the people around you,i think that if its forced or fake it just makes the issues that we already have so much worse. and in this society now there is so much diversion in between people its hard not to know about other cultures

One must understand the culture of others in order to communicate. Because so much of what is siad is idiomatic the words carry conotation beyond the denotation that influence the meainimeaining. If you don'tknow the culture you cannot be understood as well as understand others. Blah blah blah Apparently I can say what I have to say in less than60 words.

I do. It shows diversity and takes people out of the box. I think its a real eye opener for those that are close minded :) I hope to teach my kids as much about other cultures for as long as they'll listen. I think every college student should take a class on culutre diversity. Its a great way to see how the rest of world lives, functions, communicates so on and so on.

Yes, that way we will understand the person more and be able to keep peace. This is what the Bible says for to do "as far as it depends on you be peaceable with all men." If we understand their cultures then everyone will be able to get along. We can share recipes and ideas tht will help our economy and we might even find new ideas to help the fuel crises and so forth.

YES! Knowing about other cultures not only makes you well educated, but it would also solve a lot of misunderstandings between cultures. It would decrease political tensions. Tourists would know better how to act in a foreign country if they understood the customs of the country they were visiting. If Americans knew more about other cultures we wouldn't have the steriotype of being ignorant, loud, and disrespectful. And besides the more you learn about other cultures, the more you realize how similar we really all are.

Yes, I do think it is very important to learn about other cultures. I love learning about other cultures. The music, the food, the customs, how the customs originated, the government and the language. Ignorance yields fear and foolishness. They are people throughout the world that are good, decent and caring individuals. Sadly, it only takes a small percentage of extremists, imbeciles and bigots to give any given culture a bad reputation. I think this is a very important topic in this day and age. We need to value all cultures.

I think it is important to learn about other cultures. If we all lived in the same small town, all had the same religious and political beliefs and knew nothing about the billions of people that live outside of it, how does one expect their minds and points of views to expand? I suppose some people do not want to know about them and they have every right to feel that way, but I do not go through life ignorantly. It is important because we learn not to stereotype people of different races and religions and it helps us understand different cultures. That is not a "liberal" way of thinking, it is called having an open mind and being tolerant of others. We do not all have to believe in the same God in order to get along and become friends. People that cannot handle someone else having a different belief, political affiliation or whatever sound pretty petty and immature to me.

I think it is extremely important to learn about and understand other cultures. Living in America, we see people of different cultures every single day. It is in our nature to judge people before we've even spoken to them just because their appearance may seem different to us. If we would all just take the time to understand others and respect their culture's individuality, we would see how very alike we all are.

yes., so there would be no culture discrimination., every culture has there own way in living that others cant understand.,Today when the nations of the world are so tense that hair-trigger responses are becoming the norm, and when more and more nations have more and more power of destruction, we really need to inject human understanding into the mix! the BEST way to do that is to try to understand the other cultures of the world. But now, that is just the imperative reason we should try to understand them. The deeper reason is how rich that understanding can make our lives.

Its nice to learn about other cultures, but not necessary for everyone, their are so many books about cultures, but if your talking in school, I think they should stick to the basics and with history they can talk about cultures. To clebrate every culture in schools their would be no time for learning stuff like reading and writing, things that are going to get them a job. I am glad my child is out of school, because all they seemed to do is celebrate some kind of culture and had to give money or something. They will learn enough about it in college.
