I try to trust people until they prove me wrong which happens too often Do you trust people?

My mother has raised me all her life. She has taken care of me and was a provider to THE BEST of her ability. My father was not there while I was growing up though I knew him and would pass him by in the streets. He would see me and would wisper "I love you" to me but, I have craved to be around him and he was not there. My mother's friend told me to HONOR your father because, the Bible instructed us to do so. I am a true believer in God and I do give ALL respect to him, his son Jesus and the Bible but, I have always found it hard to give him that honor. Was I wrong? He is now deceased and I remember his last words to me, "I love you". I did not respond instead I just looked at him. Tell me if I was wrong or what.

When I was younger, before I had my son, I used to have a hard time saying "no". I was being pulled in all different directions, can you do this?, will you go there?, can I have that?, etc. The whole time I'm saying yes, sure, I'll do it. After I had my son, I knew that I had better change this and quick! I didn't want him to grow and be too spoiled, so I had to find ways to spoil him without him realizing he was spoiled- lol. He pretty much got what he wanted (within reason) but he had to work for it and often times I just wanted to give in but we both learned alot. He learned he has to work hard for what he wants and I learned that there should be give and take.
