Drew Carey struggles at being both a comedian and humorous. Do you think he should keep his current day job and forget about being humorous?

Drew Carey, current emcee of The Price is Right, tries desperately to be humorous. He is a people person but he seems to lack any genetic material which would inspire his inner being to produce comedy. His current cable TV offering Improv-A-Ganza is a very feeble attempt by himself and his crew of fellow thespians to create comedy routines which are both humorous and captivatingly original. The skits presented are usually hackneyed, juvenile and oftentime lacking in comedy content.

I thought Drew Carey started out as a comedian. I don't know what you mean that he should keep his day job since he didn't start out as the host of The Price is Right. if you remember correctly he had a comedy show years ago and had an improv comedy show. I thought he was funny. Maybe he just doesn't use his comic abilities with the price is right because that is not necessary.

Is this just "Trash Drew Carey" day, or can we add our opinions about other so-called "comedians", too? 'Cause I gotta tell ya......there are a lot of them out there now whose idea of being funny I just don't get ----- Will Farrell and Jim Carrey, along with the entire current staff of Saturday Night Live, are just a few that come to mind.

he needs to choose between the two because I do not think he is doing a good job of both right now. I don't think he is all that funny, so stick with your day job is what I have to say about it.

Eh, I think what you're seeing is a guy doing what it takes with the talent he has. There are all different levels of "funny" and "humorous" in the business, and Drew Carey is a guy who isn't sitting at the top, but he's not sitting at the bottom either.
The guys who are decent, but not stellar still have to eat, and even if he comes up with a lame idea for a show, he's learning as he does it and, we would hope, getting better as he learns from his mis-steps. With such a fickle audience as the public, who knows what will be funny one minute or the next? Or across differing age-groups, or cultural-groups, etc. Network television is more likely a huge hindrance to guys like Drew, since the networks demand huge ratings, which means you gotta please damn-near everybody or you fail.
Think about all the times you've started watching a show and thought, "This is a pretty good show" and then have it cancelled by the networks a couple months later. The network rating structure is the issue, not really how funny Drew Carey is or not. To those who like him, he's hilarious, and those who don't just scratch their heads. That's why I like these more specialized networks that are popping up like USA and SyFy and so on. They cater to the niche markets and don't live or die by Nielsen.

I never watched any of his tv shows. On Price is Right he is okay. He doesn't seem right for the job though. I cannot put my finger on it, but I guess no one can really place Bob Barker.

I love Drew Carey and I think he is very funny, but some of the shows he tries are not funny or are not my kind of humor (ex Improv-A-Ganza). I'm sure he will find his show one day. He is very good on The Price is Right.
