How do I stop my cats from chewing anything that resembles a sting?

My cats chew shoe stings, floss, Easter grass and curling ribbon. They must swallow it whole because it seems to come out the other end that way and usually not in the litter box. I try to keep everything tempting out of their reach but they seem to be able to get to it no matter where I try to hide these items!

I have a cat but I haven't had that problem yet with him. I could name a lot of other ones though. Cats are very smart. It is hard to hide something from them.

Give them away and get a different kind of pet. But if you love them then paint a few string like items with Tobasco or other hot sauce so they associate the taste with string type things.

You can cover cords and such in crittercord which they can't chew thru and have seen some people use duct tape wrapping but you probably don't want to cover your Easter Grass/Floss/Shoe Strings in it. For these I'd think its just a matter of spray bottle whenever they get near and hiding anything possible in a locked area. Which I had a better plan to offer.

I think your cat needs something to play and chew on.

I'm not sure you can teach a cat anything - they tend to try and teach you things I'm afraid

Sounds like your cat is looking for some attention or is bored.

Perhaps putting something really nasty tasting on a few of these things would deter them, I don't know.
