Have you noticed more annoying ways advertising is being pushed on us in the media?

As I am watching one of my favorite shows "Deadliest Catch" I now see that they are advertising within the program. For those of you that are familiar with the show, they give you the "crab count" per boat during the broadcast. Now they will insert a brand like the "Coors Light Crab Count" Maybe they did it awhile ago but I am just noticing it. It's enough already, it's bad enough I have to turn down the volume when a commercial comes on because it's louder but now I have to have it pushed on me during a program? Very annoying. I know it's all about the almighty dollar and it stinks!

I have found though our travels and watching many different stations that the sound level of commercials and even the background music for shows are set by the local broadcaster. The first time I noticed this was when there was a movie on that we wanted to watch but we gave up because we could not hear any dialogue because of the overpowering music. At a later time and place I realized that the same movie was playing and the background music was just that, background. More than once we were in an area where we could watch a network on two different stations and, sure enough, the commercials were deafening on one station but at a normal level on the other... guess which station we watched.

The thing I hate the most is on the internet when you're on a site and then the advertisements comes up in the middle of the screen and you can't do anything till it's done flipping and doing whatever in front of you. I'm sure they all have the close out buttons but some of them blend them in so much they're hard to find - it's frustrating.

I have also noticed this it isn't bad enough that we have to put up with annoying commercials but now they are incorporating stuff right into our programs.

I never skip thru the Commercials - but do manage to use the time to:
Go get a Snack
Go to the Bathroom
Make a quick Cup of Tea or Coffee
Throw a load of Laundry into the Washer/ Dryer
Put dishes in the Dishwasher
and MANY Etc's.
While I realize (and appreciate) the fact that these Companies are paying for the Shows/ Movies we are watching...........
I REALLY wish there were some way the Commercial SOUND could be regulated.
After my Husband has gone to bed, I'll turn the TV down lower and then on comes the COMMERCIAL and it is just BLARING!

We probably wouldn't have so many television shows or movies on TV if they did not have the sponsors' who are promoting the products' in ways that you all find so annoying. In fact even these surveys' we all do are promoted by the same companies that advertise so heavily.

I think with so many people using DVR's now, they are having to get creative with how they advertise. Too many people are skipping past the traditional commercials. It is annoying though!

That is how it is done. Everything from TV shows to movies. I can only imagine what a company pays to have their can of Pepsi or bag of Doritos prominently displayed in the hands of an actor or actress. While it keeps costs down for the company making the movie or the show, it also promotes the product so that when you pay to watch the movie or show, you also are going to go out and buy the product because you saw it. It is intentional even though it is subliminal in how it works.
