In general I dont think diets really work. They may work in the short term but most people ultimately wind up putting all the weight back on because a diet is a temporary measure,. What works is a lifestyle change that you can maintain for the rest of your life. To keep your weight down for good. Dont waste your money on diet programs or products. They dont work long term. If you seroiusly want to lose weight eat healthy and find some sort of excercise that you enjoy that you can do regularly. Try to eat more fruits and veggies. Eat whoile grains instead of white processed flour. drink plenty of water. Stay away from fancy coffees and sodas they are completely empty calories. Oh yeah - Eat less. It wont kill you.
Moderation, that's how I lose weight. I eat anything I want....I just eat half of it (the portion size). This way, I can say "Hey! I had that to eat!" and be happy, than say "Oh, I can't have that at all, I'll get fat." and be depressed. I've lost 15 pounds in three weeks so far.
My husband is a firefighter and recently his department has started the Herbalife Diet. Its like protein foods, shakes, vitamins and what not. They have all lost a great amount of weight and some that started on the first of the year have already lost 30 pounds crazy I know! Its expensive though and I wouldn't be able to do it myself. You replace two meals a day with their shakes, they have a lot of different ones to choose from. And then you have 2 snacks a day, I believe it is their brand of snack. Then well balanced meal, which ever meal you choose. Good Luck :)
How about forget the diet programs all together and just learn to eat the proper foods - if you stop using the word, diet, you will be more successful and be able to maintain a healthier way of eating. Just my 2 cents..but it works.
Eating heathy, getting plenty of exercie it the best advise I can give you. As we get oldier you it will be ten times harder for you to maintain your waight but it can be done.
There is no one diet program out there that works for everyone and there is no one group of food that is bad. I think the best program is to find out your BMR and set your calories based on that. Then eat balanced meals containing carbs, protein and healthy fats in every meal. I'd say that South Beach gets pretty close to that philopsophy as well as anything by Jillian Michaels. The second part of it is exercise. Eating healthy is great but to really lose weight and get in shape you should exercise at least 3 days a week - preferably 5 days doing a combination of cardio and weight training. Personally I love interval training. Hope this helps. You don't have to spend a lot of money to lose weight. Use the internet to find out the best foods to eat - cut out processed food, no fast food etc. Chicken and fish are good options, lots of veggies and fruits, healthy fats like olive oil and avocados, etc
Herbalife. It isn't a diet program, and I've actually saved money that I'd normally spend on groceries. If you want details about the company then you can ask my distributor. :) Anyway, all I do is replace breakfast and lunch with a shake. My favorite is French Vanilla. Then, they have these tablets called Total Control, which help boost the bodies metabolism. I pay about 150$ per month. I easily spend over that on my groceries. I dunno about you though. I lost 20lbs so far, and that was in my first 2 weeks. Here's the site for my distributor. Good luck! http://herbal-nutrition.net/mengele
I dont believe there are any diet programs that work for long term weight loss. Lifestyle changes are the best way to lose weight and keep it off. Clean eating and regualr exercise including weight training will boost your metabolism, help you lose weight and keep it off. Crash diets and diet programs dont help in the long term.
I have tried many and got the best results with weight watchers. They give you all he tools you need to succeed without making you buy their food. The best part is that what you learn will last a lifetime. My daughter lost over 100 lbs with them and has kept it off even after having a baby! And they are very affordable.
Definitely, the South Beach Diet. I went on that diet 3 years ago and lost 68 lbs in only 6 months. I felt great. You basically cut out most all carbs, except for those found in healthy things, such as dairy products, vegetables (yes, veggies have carbs, but they are NET carbs!) and from fruits. You will feel like crap by about day 3 or 4 and have a horrible headache until the next day when you wake up feeling like a new person! You eat so much good fresh fruits and vegetables it is so good for you and you burn off fat, not just calories, because your body is relying on it's fat stores to supply you with fuel for energy. It is by far the best diet I ever did. I like to think of it more as a way of eating, rahter than a diet. You are cutting out most all sugars, except those found in fruits. You eat a lot of legumes also, which are a good carb; but even these good carbs, found in whole grains and fruits are turned into sugar in your blood; but it is okay, it is very healthy and can help yhou combat diabetes also.
