On my way to work every day I meet people who are driving sparkling new cars down country lanes and they have no idea how to reverse - they just sit there and wave their hands around or reverse straight up the hedge!! 1. Don't drive down these narrow lanes if you can't reverse 2. I half blame the fact to pass your driving test all you have to do is reverse around a corner at 0.05mph and this isn't actually reversing at all!!
I know, some people are a nightmare, when I passed my test I had to reverse round a corner and not sure if I had to reverse into a parking space, but did not get a lot of practise. I think driving instructors need to be pushing their pupils to attempt more reverse parking for definite
i am learning at the moment, i do the corner reverse but no other reversing, i would assume once you drive independently you pick up how to do ceartian things and the more you do the better you get.
When I was learning to drive in Florida, we had to reverse down the road for one hundred feet, or you flunked the test. The problem over here is that there isn't a road one hundred feet long that isn't blocked by cars and other obstacles, and a lot of them would indeed be hit if you had to back down the road. I live in the country, too, and one thing I miss about my ancient little Blue Mini from years ago is that it would fit just about anywhere when confronted with tractors and animal transport.
