I have had kidney stones for about ten years now but have just had them blasted, so i no longer have them although they say once youve had stones you are likely to get them again, i used to have a lot of pain with them always being rushed to the hospital i would say the pain is worse than giving birth and ive had three children
I have had experience with Kidney stones and believe me not good. It started in September 2010 with kidney infections. This kept recurring and I was very sick. The Doctor kept telling me it was just a very bad infection that did not seem to be going away. I was constantly on antibiotics. I nearly lost mey job over this as I was sick so often. Anyway I eventually googled my symptoms and suggested to the Dr I had possible kidney stones. The pain was getting more severe as the weeks went on, however the doctor sent me to hospital approx. Jan 2011. I had a CT scan and was told I had three Kidney stones but one was stuck and would not be moving so I would need to get it removed . The Hospital I was in did not have the specialist required to perform this, so my records were sent to a different hospital. I waited four weeks for an appointment until one day I practically collapsed. Eventually I had to go private and was initially told that I had no kidney stones as the CT did not show anything up. Approx March 2011. I had to go back again after collapsing (April 2011) and upon a third CT scan this time with dye they saw the stone. My kidney at this stage was swollen slightly. Next day I had a procedure to blast stone and stents were put in to help my kidney recover. The stone was tiny but and was sent off for analysis. I had a calciferous stone. This is the most popular type, made up of calcium. I have to drink loads of water and there is a diet I am supposed to be following. Less fatty food etc. Stents were removed one month later. Both my parents have suffered with kidney stones and it is believed that you are more likely to suffer from them if a family member has had them.
I have never had kidney stones but have heard from others how painful they are. I suffered severe pain a few years ago when stones passed from my gallbladder to the duct and caused pancreatitiis. They did emergency surgery and removed the gallbladder but it took a long time to clear up the infection. I have told people the pain I experienced was worse than having a baby, so I would imagine kidney stones would cause similar pain. I hope I never experience that.
I actually had gaulstone which is very similar and I thought I was having a heart attack. The pain is truely undiscribalbe, it was so cripling I was unable to stand and had to crouch and eventually sit on the floor crying and not knowing whats going on.. I had it around my back area my chest and it just came all of a sudden with no warning and full throttle. I did have surgery and was luckly enought to have key whole instead of that 10"scar across your belly. Hope your family member get well quickly
