No, I never had a doctor make a housecall. Even my mother and father had to go to the doctor's office for treatment. They just went and waited their turn. My brother who lives in the country had a visiting nurse follow up with him after he was released from a serious motorcycle accident a few years ago. No doctor only nurses.
I can remember that as a child, too. I have heard that some are doing that now in our part of the country. If they didn't have to have an office and all that overhead, I think it would be cheaper for them, in most cases.
We did, when I was a kid back in the 40s. I was born at home, the doctor was late showing up at our house. We had a chriopractor come to our house back in the 50s, I remember that, it was for one of my sisters, she was in terrible back pain. Docs don't do house calls anymore that I know of.
