The Social Rewards points system was removed with the launch of the new site. We realize the end of it was a bit disappointing for some members, but we fel that the change was necessary to improve the overall quality of the site in the long run.
As for our reasoning, we feel that members who are truly interested in interacting with their friends and followers through the posting of interesting questions and topics will continue to do so without any issues. Many of those who were just "looking for points" ended up posting many, many mindless topics for the sake of quantityover quality. This became unmanageable for us and we decided that the initial goal of social reward points-increasing qualitycontent-had actually had the opposite effect. Furthermore, never in our discussion onthis importan issue did Toluna discuss the cost of this program nor any other monetary issues. We only consideredwhat was right for the community.
I want to emphasizethat you can earn points by completingsurveys found on Toluna.com. or through invites you receive via email, through sponsored polls and even by inviting friends to join (once your friend has registeredwith us, you will receive 500 bonus points.)
We thank you for being a member of our online panel and for your continued dedication!
Oh well, so now we know (or possibly not)! Thank you for posting this, though I only really became active on here about the same time as everything changed so in my case it's a bit like "What you don't know, you won't miss" !
i have read others similar, in a way i agree with them as we do see many boring pathetic topics and absolutely loads of topics which are way too similar. Although i disagree with the fact of the other ways we can earn points, yes we can by the surveys but this is the only way, so to lose so many points from social rewards has caused many many members to leave. The only way i see toluna continueing is to either bring back the social rewards, though from there point of view and mine this may not be ideal, so the other way is to keep the social rewards gone, but for toluna to reduce the amount of points we need to get rewards, so we can still get to them quite quickly, should this not happen i feel toluna will lose even more members than they already have.
as above, i know at least one member who went from the US site to the UK one, and is now getting social rewards again. She did not move physically, you understand, but changed her country. I'm not sure what's involved beyond clicking on the country setting at the bottom of your page. Good luck!
If it was truly because of the "quantity over quality" issue they could have just introduced a limit on the number of topics/polls it is possible for one member to make in a day/week. I don't think that that was the only issue for Toluna over the social rewards points. I'm still getting them at the moment because I live in the UK but when they stop it will probably take me far too long to build up the required points to get any rewards and if this is the case I will not continue to use Toluna.
Thanks for posting this, it is interesting to hear the Toluna explanation. I'm disappointed that the social rewards will be ending in the UK too, but it is good to hear their reasons for it.
Whatever Carrie.. You people are in it for one reason, to make money w/o regard to others..Sorry, I know it's your topic, they just infuriate me...Are we to believe that Tunaland has our best interests at heart??? Lmao
Myslím že Toluna ztratí tímto krokem spoustu svých uživatelů.U nás v České republice ale zatím tyto sociální odměny dávají tak uvidíme kdy nám to také zruší
