The definition of a beta version is “The beta version of a software release is considered to be a preview. It has all the standard features, but is not yet ready for wide release or sale. During this point, the company will collect feedback from users about the product's usability — what they like and what should be changed — before the product's wide release.”
Got this definition off the web, but it does beg the questions:-
1. Will those members who are currently testing the Beta version be asked for feedback and will that feedback be acted upon.
2. What happens when the Beta version goes live for the rest of us, will we also get a chance to suggest improvements, or will it be too late by then?
For those of you on the UK site who are “lucky” enough to have the blue flash at the top of your profile page, you now have the opportunity to try out the Beta site, for which you will have received an e mail invite, which also asked you for your feedback. I responded within my first hour of trying to site, with my views on the operation of the new site, as well as my views on the ending of the social reward points, to which I haven’t even had an acknowledgement which to me is so disrespectful. So, my question is, if you have tried the site, have you given Toluna your feedback and if so, have they responded
I took a decently long hiatus and when I returned, I was shocked to see the changes since I had no idea they were coming. After using it for a month or so...I can say that I miss the old version. This version is cumbersome and takes longer to load each page. Anyway, to answer your questions: 1. I feel it is highly unlikely that user feedback will be acted upon. Time and money have already been spent on this version, I doubt they’re going to want to dump in more time and more money to “fix” it until it is rolled out to everyone. 2. See the answer to question 1. :) I'm pessimistic so take my attitude with a grain of salt, and a shot of tequila if you like.
BETA- Better Elsewhere Torture Always has truly become the new Toluna abyss for US and Canada.Surely, Brits will be screwed over soon enough. Toluna will not be satisfied until they have pawned off those useless gifties to them as well.
