Consumer Reports rated the Walmart brand dishwasher soap in second place for efficiency and first place according to value. I think it is called "Great Value". A few years ago we used it and it worked just as well as Cascade. I haven't used the dishwasher for the last 5 years but my daughter ran out at her place and tried the Walmart soap and thinks that it is great.

Cascade is the best because it cleans stuck on food and leaves the dishes squeaky clean, and has a good smell to it.

Dish soap for dishwashers....Its not so much the soap ...it's how well the dishwasher
performs in the cleaning and the temperature of the water

I use cascade which works great with our hard water that we have.Tthe dishes look very sparkly clean. I would recommend it to anyone who has hard water and lives out in the country like me.
