It can be if you are looking for a purely academic course. However, it takes a lot of determination and self control to stick with it. If you want a great career in the medical field, I would suggest a resident school. Also do your research, there are a lot of on-line papermills which have degrees that have as much value as toilet paper.
I say it is a regular college. Going in person and learning gives more than anything else in the world. There is no substitute for that. But online college is an useful one when a person is working and willing to do his course.
I think it depends on the qualification they offer. Some online colleges offer worthless qualifications so you need to be careful. The open university is first class though.
