I’m not sure if I will or not. I like everyone who has followed me or that I am following but we are doing it mainly to earn points. If Toluna stops rewarding us Event points, there’s really not any reason to create topics or polls or to follow someone except to keep up the friendship. I think Toluna is making a big mistake by stopping the Event points. Being able to interact with other users is one of the things that made this such a unique survey site but now it’s going to seem just like all the others.
Part of the reason I return to Toluna (versus the other sites) is this part. I enjoy the opinions and polls, I enjoy throwing my 2 cents in (when I'm around) and helping other members out. I've tried other sites that are straight surveys and it isn't the same, there is no sense of community. I'm just an "anonymous" survey taker on those sites which isn't the case on Toluna. If Toluna changed the Event points, I doubt I'd participate in polls etc.
Hi, you must have answered me while on the beta site because I saw your message when I checked things as a non member! If I want to be sure you can read my message, I have to answer you here. This is all such a pain and a bit sad as small communities and friendships was supposed to be the point of this site, or so I thought. Now there is the problem of how to answer opinions: you have to click on the Give Opinion (whatever you have written on the drop down box) directly under the opinion. Many people haven't figured this out yet, and some are having even worse problems, so frustration is mounting and people are continuing to leave. I saw you got some nasty comments at the same time as I did while sending support to Sarah. Although I have left her notes, she hasn't communicated back. Maybe she has left too. Take care.
Right now it seems we are receiving points. How much longer is the question. I have cut way back on creating polls & topics. As for making the rounds. It's difficult because I really am not sure who is in the US and who is not with the exception of a few members.
I am sure that if Toluna goes ahead with this it will quickly be the death toll for it. the community side of this site is waht makes it great and different to other survey sites and also the surveys and points make it stand out from other community sites. Toluna might as well just close down totally if they insist on removing this very popular activity from the site. I for one can't see thepoint in spending time inter-acting with other members if the incentive is removed even though I love it and have had some wonderful"conversations" and discussions with many members over the years. I will miss it greatly but the majority I am sure will stop posting if their is no reward for participating.
I am also not sure about this hot topic. So many people have stopped making polls because they are viewed as a waste of time because neither they, nor the poll taker gets points so now if the Popularity Points are removed, who will take the time to make topics? And why unless you just have a burning desire to know. In the recent 6 months, my ability to even qualify for a Toluna survey has been only one or two and I really am here for the points, I am not sure that staying here would be in my best interest as I do get addicted to reading and writing on the topics and spend too much time here.
I can't see the site being very popular if this is what will happen in the future its a unique site like you say and not earning points for opinions will just ruin it
I agree with everything you have written and will add that out of each 24,000 points I earn, 15,000 is from the folks who stop by and 5,000 is from 80+ word responses, and 4,000 or less is from surveys. I don't see myself staying on for the points for certain. I may stay on to keep in touch, but I doubt it. It has taken me over a year to earn $100 as it is.
