Can you believe that Offcom wasted money investigating comments made by Jeremy Clarkson?

Offcom have decided that the comments made by Jeremy Clarkson where a joke and would not have been taken seriously. Can you believe that they wasted money investigating this, Is there nothing better they could spend the money on.

I think its worse that people actually complain about things that are obviously said tongue in cheek. Have they had a sense of humour by-pass. Reply

Yes, they should have investigated if it was a member of the public who made the original complaint. It's the start of a very slippery slope if you allow complaints investigation bodies to pick and choose which complaints they think are worth responding to. Yes, it costs more money thay way, but a member of the public would be rightly aggrieved it their complaint was flung back as something the authorities thought wasn't worth bothering with. Reply

They should have investigated, and their findings were right...however it's understandably annoyed a lot of people because Clarkson keeps getting away with these offensive comments. OFFCOM aren't responsible for him or the BBC continuing to allow him to make comments like this, but they're an easy target for the British public to grumble about for one reason or another. Reply

They investigated because he's an insensitive prick who caused a lot of offense to a lot of people and insulted the people they swore they would not be insulting. When enough people complain, they are obligated to investigate. That's their job. Just because you think treating poor people like shit (as does JC), doesn't mean the rest of us approve and we have the right to complain that our BBC money is being spent on a buffoon who has no respect for anyone who isn't as rich and WHITE as he is. They were probably expecting to finance it by Press TV coughing up an overdue £100k fine which they belatedly & arbitrarily imposed. That was a politically motivated response following _zero_complaints_ for 'inappropriate interview techniques'! Reply

By all accounts they had 21000 complaints made to them, so they really needed to be seen to do something. Reply
