My son has a small co-op in Manhattan, but has recently purchased a larger one for his growing family. The problem is that he has architect plans to gut the co-op and refigure it. The co-op's architect is fighting him on a bathroom location. Should he fix it up and sell it, or should he replan the look that won't be the best for his family? Keep in mind that he is paying two mortgages and can't afford this horror!
Property is always a tricky subject wherever you live - only advice I can give is to check with a lawyer, who is right and what he is able to do. I know its easy to ay but these things shoul dbe checked before setting off, would save a lot of heartache ( and financial worry)

Hi, Is it that important where the bathroom is located? There must be a reason why the architect is saying where it needs to be, if it reaaly is that important then I guess he just has to sell up & let some one else finish the building work.
I feel very sorry for your son, what an awful situation to be in. Sounds like a real horror story, I suppose getting really good legal advice is the only avenue he can pursue, although I bet that will be expensive, so it seems very much like a no-win situation. Any American real-estate law experts on Toluna ?
