How often do you have family round for dinner?

I have 4 grown up children It's not that often that we get together for a meal (except Xmas special occasions etc,)but against my better judgement my wife invited them and their partners for" Dinner".
With great trepidation I agreed.I must say that it was a very pleasent evening except for the fact that they, even approaching their thirties, do not seem to have got what adulthood is all about. The concept of everything is not put on a plate goes right over their heads. At one stage four asked for my Wifi code so they could twitter each other.Jesus Christ they were sat in the same room.Talk about stupidity.
Maybe they were just having a laugh and I'm an old fuddy duddy.
Expecting comments like Get with it Grandad, but we put all our time and money into giving these kids an education and now they need a spell checker.Long live America.LOL

I see my partner's family all the time, but not as a family meal gathering, in fact the last time nearly all the immediate family got together was my partner's birthday. Reply

We live over 200 miles from our families, moved from Staffordshire to Devon about 14 years ago, so no family get togethers on a regular basis, just a few times each year Reply

They live in Worcestershire and we live in Istanbul so the chances of them popping round for anything at the moment are severely restricted. Reply

Hi there, I don't have kids. But I do have my parents round for Sunday tea a couple of times each month. Since I work nightshift I can't invite them round more often than this. Reply

I had to chuckle reading your post, the mental image of nobody speaking at the table but tweeting each other is hilarious !
To answer your question though I do see my family often, so often infact that we'd have nothing to say at a dinner !

I don't typically have family over unless it's a holiday and some years I have even skipped that. My family brings to much drama with them Reply
