we are not better off than four years ago and unless we make some changes in many areas, we are better well off now than we will be four years from now. There are some changes being made but I am not sure that they are big enough changes really. For example, I understand that there are attempts to stop pork barrel legislation which is costing so much money and attempts to combine some federal bureaus to make government smaller which will same money and help the economy but until we see how sincere our government is in doing that, we will not be able to count on things getting any better. Our government is just too large and involved in too many things which were meant to be and should be left to the states to deal with. I often wonder how many have noticed that the smaller a government unit is, the less money problems many of them have. I live in a small town with a balanced budget each year with a population of something like 5,000 while the city of Detroit, with its 800,000 is bankrupt and facing a take-over by the state of Michigan and there are other small communities having no problems really and other larger cities having the same problems as Detroit.
No, I think now that most young people now must accept jobs' that make less money than their parents' generation did. Getting a good job is almost like an inheritance because it is usually based on who you are and who you know.
