What do you think about the man who let his 9 year old daughter drive him to the gas station?

This happen in Michigan I could not believe what I was watching on the news. How can you get so drunk and have your child drive you to a gas station? He was drunk, that poor little girl was scared but not scared enough to drive her daddy she was driving pretty good my thing is how did her feet reach the peddles if she sitting on a booster seat, there is no way on this earth I would let a child drive, He needs to be under the jail.

I think in this case she had been driving a tractor or something so in his mind he meant that she could drive a car but that had to be the alcohol thinking and not him. A person with a child that young around should not be drinking to the point he can't think rationally anyhow because what if there had been an emergency where he needed a clear head? What was really strange was that less than a week later there was another similar case where a child was driving and someone was arrested but I do not recall all the details at the moment. I don't think jail time would help with stupidity but I think the judge needs to order substance abuse counseling for a lengthy period of time.

I am not so much against a 9 year old learning to drive as I am the reasoning behind her driving. We have always taught our children to drive when they are young. All of our kids can drive cars, trucks, even our skid loader. We teach them so that they are good drivers when the time comes and we don't let them drive the main roads! Having a child drive you because you are too drunk to do so is another story! He should be punished! No child should have to be subjected to that!

I'm a native-born Michigander, and what people seeing this on the news need to know is that, in Michigan, kids drive tractors on the farm starting around age 7, 8, or 9. It is not unusual. Driving into a gas station is a bit scary, though, I admit--but she did a magnificent job!

He should be put in jail. But it probably was safer for her to drive than him. Usually when folk are drunk they tend to drive really fast. But nine times out of 10 this little girl was probably scared and she probably drove slow cause she was scared.

Haven't heard of this particular story but have heard of similar stories about parents letting children drive. Idiots! Many adults can't even drive. How is a child supposed to drive?!

I think the question is why did the girl drive him? She should have just run away or something, but of course it would happen in Michigan. You never know, some kids can grow bigger than many kids their age.

Well I think it's pretty stupid myself putting that little girl, in a dangerous position like that what if something were to go wrong she hasn't got a liscence or will the insurance cover it something could have gone terriblly wrong killing the child or some other person how would he live with himself I dont feel that beer was really that important what is important is the safety of his child
